Jane Morris was the wife of designer William Morris; she was the muse of painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti and had an affair with him. Because of the love these two famous men felt for her, a large amount of images and artefacts have been preserved. I have plunged into this source material to get inspiration for my visual research.

For the upcoming solo exhibition at the Beverley Art Gallery I am creating a site-specific installation called the ‘Jane Morris Museum’ comprising several case-displays filled with artefacts representing Jane’s life story.

I started collecting antique books, photo albums and photographs in order to alter them and turn them into items which appear to have belonged to Jane. An example of this is the recreating of a particular cabinet card of Jane Morris that is kept in a private collection. For years, I have been trying to locate the cabinet card until I decided to learn the technique of albumen printing and make a replica of it myself.

My Instagram profile offers a glimpse behind the scenes.
